Gallery - India Day
The Year 5 and 6 children at Hamp Academy took part in an India day celebration. The topic for the upper phase this half term has been based on India and the children have carried out lots of different activities to discover for themselves what life is like.
Each class put on a different activity and the children took it in turns to take part in each one. We were also lucky enough to have an Indian dancer come in and teach the whole of the upper phase a Bollywood style dance in the hall. In 5CA the children made Indian sweets and decorated them with coconut. They also decorated and made Indian sweet boxes to take them home for the family to enjoy. In 5JR the children looked at Rangoli patterns (they have learnt all about these whilst studying Diwali), and Mrs Ross and Miss Lambert decorated their hands with Henna once the children were happy with their designs. In 6AP the children enjoyed a session on Indian cookery. They tasted a variety of Indian dishes and made delicious Bombay Potatoes. Although the bowl for Mr Talmage was a bit of the spicy side. The day end with a performance of the children's dances!
