It has been a very busy time since Christmas with lots going on in PE. In lessons the Children have a enjoyed a variety of sports and topics even including maths yes maths, the robin hood game involves working out lots of arithmetic questions and then running to your opponents base find more sums and aiming to be the first to finish their answer sheet (with the correct answers of course). We have continued with Real PE and also the old favourites of Dodge Ball and Bench Ball.
The year groups have also had visits to Robert Blake School to work with their young sports leaders as part of the SASP sports programme. The last event to take place was a net and wall festival, this improves the children's hand eye coordination whilst taking part in such sports as beach ball volleyball and Table Tennis. As you can see from the photos it was great fun and enjoyed by all.
We have had some fantastic success with our teams and individual sports stars. The Boys year 5 & 6 football team made it all the way to the schools county finals. The Girls team also had great success finishing fourth in the Sedgemoor area football tournament, a massive well done to both teams.
The football team has also received great support from HCA sponsoring us so we could purchase a fantastic new kit.
Our Cross Country team have been very busy too, running at events at Brymore and Burnham. There has been some fantastic effort put in on some very tricky courses. The school would also like to say a big well done to Anna Manuel (6PM) for being selected for the area team to run at the county finals.
We had an amazing day on Sport Relief day with rowing, Zumba and run a mile all added up to raise a fantastic £707.06!! Thank you to all the staff and the parents for their generosity and support but a big thank you to all the children.
At last it looks like spring is here and the children have been enjoying the outdoor activities and the introduction for some to Athletics. So far they have done Javelin, shot put and sprinting. We will return to these now on a regular basis to improve technique and help the children beat their own personal achievements so far. We are looking forward to so much more in our sporting year to come including Orienteering, strike and Field at Robert Blake with SASP, a mini football tournament v Manor Court School and also of course sports day later in the year
